Dear patient, parent or guardian,
We hope you are all keeping well during this difficult time and perhaps starting to experience a feeling of optimism.
Following the latest government guidelines issued on Thursday 18th June 2020, we have now entered
phase 2 and can very slowly begin to open the practice. We will, however, still be working under severe restrictions throughout phase 2 and will be able to see emergencies only: patients in pain, broken or sharp wires and broken or lost retainers. Also, due to a shortage of PPE and the need for physical distancing, we are under very clear governmental instruction to see no more than 10 patients per day. We regret that this will be of very limited help to you in the early stages but hope that you will understand the need for a cautious approach.
We realise that there will be many patients who feel that they are entitled to be seen as soon as possible and we will make every effort to make that happen. Equally, there will be many patients who will be very disappointed to find out that they will not be seen in the early stages of reopening. We offer you our most sincere apologies and hope to see you in again as soon as possible. As yet there is no date for a return to routine treatment (phase 3).
If you are in pain, have a sharp wire digging in or lost or broken your retainer, we would encourage you to phone the practice to access the emergency number. You will be triaged and asked a short list of covid related questions. Provided you are low risk, you will either be given an appointment or placed on a waiting list to be seen at the first available opportunity. As things stand, government guidelines forbid us from carrying out repairs. The aim will be to make you comfortable and safe, not to provide routine treatment.
We expect the phones to be very busy and wish to apologise and ask for your understanding during this difficult transition back to work. On no account must you vent your frustrations on our staff. We will do everything we possibly can to help but please remember that any abuse will not be tolerated.
We hope to be able to confirm a return to routine treatment date in the near future and will keep you updated as far as we possibly can as we move through these rapidly developing and evolving stages.
Our emergency number is: 07852 223396 and will be available from 09.00 to 16.00 Monday to Friday.
Stay safe and hope to see you soon.
From all of us at Glasgow Orthodontics.
